(NYSE:IBM) have announced the new VersaStack™, converged infrastructure that was developed jointly by the two NASDAQ Stock companies. VersaStack allows companies to automate processes and reduce complexity so as to expedite the delivery of applications. A number of additional technologies have been incorporated in VersaStack to stretch the software to include hybrid cloud capacities as well as enabling it utilize the latest software defined technologies for storage so as to address cloud-scale applications.
The solution enables IT companies to standardize and simplify delivery of services through automation of infrastructure. By using the VersaStack and the Cisco ONE Enterprise Cloud Suite an organization is able to improve efficiency and at the same time reduce cost and complexity hence delivering a full set of storage capabilities. The solution also enables organizations to deploy advanced and premier solutions for hybrid IT. A combination of IBM Spectrum Copy Data Management and Cisco CloudCenter helps in deployment, provision and management of data and applications in hybrid cloud environments. By using the solution, companies are able to improve on the management, recovery as well as data storage. This is achieved through a combination of VersaStack and Spectrum Software Defined Storage together with Cisco UCS®.
Arizona State Land Department Chief Technology Officer Bill Reed says the department’s engineering, GIS and a number of applications were very slow and underperforming but the VersaStack solution has boosted the system and improved on staff performance. He adds that they are now able to access business-critical data through mobile phones using a hybrid cloud. He says by using VersaStack, they are able to well informed decisions about the department and more efficiently for the benefit of Arizona Public Schools education system which is the primary beneficiary of the program.
