Optex Systems Hldg InCorp (OTCMKTS:OPXS), renowned maker of optical sighting systems as well as assemblies particularly for Department of Defense applications informed that Karen L. Hawkins will be the new Chief Financial Officer, effective immediately. Prior to new role, Hawkins was VP of Finance and Controller segment with Optex. It will be a expanded role wherein Hawkins will also look after all financial operations of the Company.

With the additional responsibilities resulted from the company’s recent purchase of Applied Optics Center from L-3 Communications, Hawkins experience serves as a good reason to assign her with the new responsibilities.
Hawkins joined Optex in 2007 as controller and then was promoted to VP, Finance and Controller in 2009. Back in 1992, she became a Certified Public Accountant and holds a strong background in both cost and financial accounting. She has more than 25 years of experience in field of financial accounting and management. She possesses thorough knowledge of internal auditing, financial analysis and extensive government pricing.
Optex stated that Hawkins worked in various field such as Business Development, Materials Management and Program Management. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1986.
Applied Optics Center
Recently, Optex acquired Applied Optics Center which is the largest maker company of laser protection filters for the U.S. Army. It is a world-class manufacturer and designer of precision optical assemblies. The unique methods and products include Subsystem Prototyping, Thin Film Coatings, Rapid Component, World-class Optical Metrology, Precision Optical Component Fabrication and Optical Assembly and Subsystems. The other strengths are Large-Format Capability and Integrated Design and Manufacturing.
