OriginOil Inc (OTCMKTS:OOIL): What You Should Be Watching

OriginOil Inc (OTCMKTS:OOIL), a water treatment company, has been rich in news in the recent months, especially in the past few weeks. The company has announced new products, collaborations and entry into new markets, which are key developments from an investor standpoint and deserve attention.

Harvesting algae

OriginOil Inc (OTCMKTS:OOIL) launched a device known as Smart Algae Harvester, which is designed for harvesting of algae for various applications. According to OriginOil, 67% of industry insiders who participated in a survey said that a lab-scale algae harvester would be very or extremely useful. The company intends to have full participation of researchers in developing the smaller lab-scale algae harvester.

Water treatment

OriginOil Inc (OTCMKTS:OOIL) also recently announced collaboration with oil company, Vaquero Energy, to treat frack water for irrigation in California’s drought area of Central Valley. The site for the frack water treatment has already been commissioned. Two water treatment units have already been installed at the site, with one unit being able to process 3,000 barrels per day and another 250 barrels per day.

Treatment of frack water is an emerging industry that is just beginning to take off, and OriginOil wants to lead the way. The company boasts cost-effective and state-of-the-art technology for treating frack water.

Deal in China

OriginOil Inc (OTCMKTS:OOIL) announced that it has established a subsidiary in China to support industrial and frack water treatment. The subsidiary in Hong Kong will license regional joint ventures. OriginOil also plans to set up research and manufacturing operations in China.

There appears to be a strong demand and excitement around OriginOil’s innovative water treatment processes. Investors should keep an eye on the sales of these processes and the impact of the deals that the company has continued to sign to expand the acquisition of its water technologies.
