Leaders Paris Saint-Germain will travel to the Stade Gaston Gerard to face Dijon in the Ligue 1 on Friday.
After eleven games, PSG are eight points clear in the table. They have accumulated 27 points and Nantes in second place have 19 so far. PSG are on a great run of form recently. They are on a run of six consecutive wins since Stade Reims beat them 2-0 in September. In that run, PSG have conceded just one goal, and have scored 19 themselves. Last week they hosted Marseille in the league and claimed a 4-0 win. Mauro Icardi and Kylian Mbappe both scored a brace to hand PSG an easy victory.
Mbappe was injured at the start of the season, but the Frenchman is back now. In six league appearances, he has four goals and three assists. Last week he scored his first Champions League goals of the season. PSG faced Club Brugge, and Mbappe started the game on the bench. He came on in the second half and scored a hat-trick to round off a 5-0 win. Mbappe is back to his best, but Neymar will be absent for the trip to Dijon.
He suffered a hamstring injury while on international duty last month. Neymar will be out for about a month, but Thomas Tuchel has other options at his disposal. Angel Di Maria has been in stellar form this season, and new signing Pablo Sarabia has impressed as well. Icardi has found his scoring boots recently, and the Argentine has scored seven goals already for PSG. Edinson Cavani is also nearing full fitness, and Neymar’s absence will not be felt as keenly.
In stark contrast to PSG, Dijon are last in the table. They have won just two league games so far and have accumulated nine points. However, seven of those points have come in the last four games. Dijon got their first win of the season when they beat Stade Reims 2-1. Julio Tavares and Mama Balde scored the goals as Dijon fought back from a deficit to get the win. Dijon then claimed an impressive goalless draw against Lyon before losing to Brest. Despite the loss, they have improved significantly compared to the beginning of the season. They are three points adrift of safety, and a win could get them there.
The head to head provides a grim reading for Dijon. PSG have won the last eight encounters between these two sides. In the last three league clashes, PSG have scored a whopping 16 goals, whilst conceding none. PSG won both the games by a 4-0 scoreline last season.
Dijon vs Paris Saint-Germain Prediction
A similar result should be on the cards on Friday, and PSG should get an easy win. The total goals in the game should be over 2.5 and PSG will get all of them. A clean sheet is also likely for the defending champions along with the three points.
