An in-form Barcelona side will visit the Ciutat de Valencia to take on Levante on Saturday in the La Liga.
After a rocky start, the defending champions are back on the rise. Since losing to Granada in September, they have won seven consecutive games in all competitions. Five of those have come in the league, which has put them in first place in the table. Barcelona’s last three league games have ended in comprehensive wins for the Catalans. They have scored 12 goals in those games while conceding just one.
Barcelona hosted Valladolid at the Camp Nou on Tuesday and recorded a 5-1 win. Clement Lenglet opened the scoring, but Kiko got a fortunate equalizer for Valladolid. However, Lionel Messi was brilliant and inspired his side to the win. He scored two and assisted two to seal the win. Each goal was a work of art for Messi, and the Barcelona captain is back in the groove yet again. Ernesto Valverde desperately missed Messi in the opening weeks of the season when they dropped points against Bilbao, Osasuna, and Granada.
Ansu Fati started against Valladolid as Antoine Griezmann was benched. Ousmane Dembele is injured, but Fati is an excellent understudy to Griezmann right now. The Frenchman should slot back into the starting lineup against Levante. Arthur was not in the squad against Valladolid, but the Brazilian is not carrying any injury. He should start as well alongside Frenkie De Jong and Sergio Busquets. Arturo Vidal will rival Busquets for a start, as the Chilean was excellent against Valladolid.
Levante are 11th in the table as of now, and they will hope to get into the top half. They traveled to the Anoeta to face Real Sociedad on Tuesday. Sociedad have been impressive this season, and it was a tough game on paper. Levante were fast out of the blocks, and they led 2-0 at half-time. Enis Bardhi and Borja Mayoral got the goals in the first half for Levante. Willian Jose made it 2-1 in the second half, but Levante held on for the three points.Embed from Getty Images
They had just 34% possession in the game but organised themselves well at the back. Roger Marti is Levante’s top-scorer this season in the La Liga with three goals. He started on the bench against Sociedad but should make the eleven against Barcelona.
Barcelona have dominated the head to head record between the two sides. Levante have won just once in the last 20 encounters. That win came in 2018, and it was a memorable one. Levante beat Barca 5-4 to put an end to their unbeaten league campaign. Barcelona won the two meetings last season by a combined scoreline of 6-0.
Levante vs Barcelona Prediction
A similar result should be on the cards on Saturday as Barcelona will look to hold on to the top spot. The total goals should be over 2.5, and Barcelona will get most of them. Levante will find it hard to score, and it will be a comfortable three points for Barcelona.
