Leaders Paris Saint-Germain will travel to the Stade Francis-Le Ble to take on Brest in the Ligue 1 on Saturday.
After 12 games in the Ligue 1, PSG are way ahead in the table yet again. They have accumulated 27 points so far, which is seven more than Angers in second place. PSG have lost just three games, winning the other nine. One of those losses came last week when they faced Dijon. Kylian Mbappe gave PSG the lead, and they were on course for another win. However, Mounir Chouiar and Jhonder Cadiz scored to give Dijon a 2-1 win.
Despite the loss, PSG are in no threat from any team at the top of the table. They got back to winning ways in the Champions League on Wednesday. Club Brugge visited the Parc des Princes and PSG recorded a 1-0 win. Mauro Icardi got the only goal of the game in the first half, and PSG negotiated the win from thereon. They have won all the Champions League games so far, and an easy passage to the knockout rounds is on the cards.
In the league as well, they dominate most metrics. PSG have scored 26 goals and conceded 7, and few sides can match those numbers in the division. Icardi has been in great form of late, and he has scored five goals in the last four games. Edinson Cavani is back to full fitness, and the Uruguayan will be raring for time on the pitch. He started the game against Club Brugge on the bench but made an appearance in the second half. Neymar is sidelined, but the likes of Mbappe and Angel Di Maria are there to ease the load.
After gaining promotion last season, Brest are making a name for themselves in the top flight. They are in ninth place in the table, which is not what many expected coming into the season. Brest were relegation candidates, but they have erased that assumption. In the last four games, they have claimed three wins.Embed from Getty Images
The loss in that time came last week when they faced Amiens. Ferney Otero scored the only goal of the game to hand Amiens a 1-0 win. It was a tight game, which is a pattern seen in Brest’s games this season. They had kept three consecutive clean sheets in the league before the loss to Amiens.
Brest find themselves in the unlikely scenario of contending for European spots. If they claim the three points on Friday, then they could climb to as high as second. Brest and PSG have not met since 2014, but PSG dominate their head to head record. They have won the last five games in all competitions.
Brest vs Paris Saint-Germain Prediction
PSG are favorites this time as well, and they should claim a comfortable win. The total goals in this one should be over 2.5, and the likes of Mbappe and Cavani are favorites to get them. PSG should keep a clean sheet as well on their way to the three points.
