Atalanta will look to bounce back from Monday’s loss when they will face Torino at the Olimpico di Torino on Saturday.
Atalanta Match Form
Atalanta faced lowly SPAL on Monday on their own patch. The game looked like an easy one on paper, and it started just like that. Josip Ilicic gave them the lead in the 16th minute, and they were leading at half-time. However, SPAL came back and scored twice in the second half to take the three points. Atalanta dominated the possession, but they could not create enough to get the win.
In most of the games this season Atalanta’s attack has been a force to be reckoned with. They have scored 50 league goals in 20 games, which is the most in the division. Lazio are second on that list with 46 to their name. However, it is on the defensive end where they are found wanting. The top three sides have all conceded less than 20 goals, whereas Atalanta have shipped in 28 themselves. They have improved at the back of late, but the SPAL game saw those flaws return. Coach Gian Piero Gasperini will want to tighten up at the back against Torino.
Atalanta are in fifth place, as they will hoe to get into the Champions League next season as well. Roma in fourth place are just three points above them.
Torino Match Form
Torino also have hopes of European football, but they are much slim compared to Atalanta. Currently in 9th place, Torino are three points off Cagliari in 6th place. Finishing there will yield Europa League football for next season, which is what Torino will be aiming for. Sassuolo were the opponents, and Torino took an early lead via an own goal. But Sassuolo hit back twice in the second half to clinch the win. Torino had just two efforts on target in the entire game, and they could not muster any authority.
Torino have won eight league games this season, and most of those wins have come by close margins. Their goal difference is negative, which is not encouraging. Andrea Belotti is their main man in front of goal, and he has scored nine times in the Serie A.
Torino have lost just once in their last six league meetings with Atalanta. In those six games, three have ended in a draw. Their last clash saw five goals as Torino claimed a 3-2 win in September. It was a whirlwind game which saw both sides in the balance for the win. Another similar game could be in store in Turin on Saturday.
Torino vs Atalanta Betting Tips
Atalanta will be the favorites but both sides will give their all in an attacking sense. The game should see over 2.5 goals in total, and both sides will find the back of the net. Atalanta have more firepower in attack, and that should see them get the three points.
