The NBA might have been temporarily halted because of the ongoing pandemic but that doesn’t mean we can stop looking at the future. We saw in the 2019-20 season that many teams performed excellently and showed the superb core they had. These few teams are really shaping up well for the future seasons as the strength of their squad is exciting and something to look forward to.
1. New Orleans Pelicans
New Orleans Pelicans have emerged as the most promising franchise in the NBA in recent times and for good reason. They got young Zion Williamson in who has looked like a potential superstar in just the 19 games he has played and Brandon Ingram who is a sure shot All-Star. In terms of long-term assets, the Pelicans now have talents like Jrue Holiday, Jaxson Hayes, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker who are bound to reap great rewards in the coming seasons. If Lonzo Ball and Josh Hart can continue to improve then the Pelicans will be unstoppable.
2. Boston Celtics
They have been in good form over the last few seasons but the Boston Celtics are shaping up into a really strong outfit now. In Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown they have possibly the best young duo in the NBA right now as both these stars have the ability to change the game around single-handedly. Both will be playing a significant role for the Celtics in the coming years for sure. Kemba Walker, Marcus Smart, Romeo Langford, Grant Williams, Robert Williams and Carsen Edwards are really good long-term assets and will compliment their superstar duo well.
3. Philadelphia 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers had a very good 2019-20 season with a 39-26 win-loss record. However, they have the potential to improve further with the roster they are setting up. Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons are two young stars that should be looked forward to. The two All-Stars are 26 and 23 years old respectively and are in the peak of their powers. Then, the team also has some great depth in Tobias Harris, Al Horford, Josh Richardson, Zhaire Smith, Matisse Thybulle and Shake Milton. They will provide balance and durability to the squad which should serve them well for a few seasons.
4. Denver Nuggets
The Denver Nuggets have done well over the last couple of seasons and should do even better going forward. In Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr. they now have three young superstars who can be a combined force for the team. All three have been excellent but it is Porter who has genuine talent and potential and changes the fortunes of the team. Jokic will continue to be a MVP and with Gary Harris, Will Barton and Vlatko Cancar constantly improving the Denver Nuggets can be a force to reckon for years to come.
5. Miami Heat
They had a win-loss record of 41-24 this season and you can expect Miami Heat to only get better from here on as their roster looks pretty solid. Bam Adebayo has already blossomed into an All-Star and rookie Tyler Herro is a real exciting player who will be catching headlines in the next seasons. Duncan Robinson had a remarkable 3-point shooting season and we should be seeing more of him. Jimmy Butler, Andre Iguodala, Chris Silva and KZ Okpala are long-term assets for the team. Heat is thus set up nicely for staying at the top for the next many seasons if they continue with this squad.
